Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of the Gefyra platform ("Service"), operated by Gefyra ("we", "us"). By using the Service you fully accept these Terms.

⚠ Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to use this Service. Users under 18 are strictly prohibited from registering or using any part of the Service.

🤖 AI Disclosure: Sofia is an artificial intelligence (AI) system — not a human. You are interacting with an automated AI system. This disclosure is made in accordance with EU Regulation 2024/1689 (EU AI Act).

1. Eligibility

To use the Service you must:

Be at least 18 years old
Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
Not be prohibited from using the Service under applicable law
Provide accurate registration information

2. Account Registration

Registration is done via Google OAuth. You are responsible for the confidentiality of your account. You must notify us immediately at support@gefyraapp.eu if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. The Service

Gefyra is a dating platform that includes:

Sofia AI: Conversation with AI to explore preferences and receive support — free up to the message limit
Messaging between users: Direct communication with real users after a match — requires a subscription for male users

By using the Service you acknowledge that Sofia is an AI system, responses may be inaccurate, and it is not a substitute for professional help or human relationships.

4. Messages Between Users

Gefyra provides messaging between registered users. Regarding these messages:

Messages are stored on our servers to operate the Service
We do not proactively read your messages — unless required by law or a violation report is submitted
We use automated systems (content moderation) to detect illegal or abusive content
We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms and to suspend accounts without notice
Under a lawful order (e.g. court decision), we may disclose messages to competent authorities

ℹ DSA Compliance: In accordance with EU Regulation 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act), we maintain a mechanism for reporting illegal content. If you receive an inappropriate message, please use the report button below.

Did you receive inappropriate or illegal content from another user? Report it and we will review it within 24 hours.

5. Acceptable Use

The following are strictly prohibited:

Sending harassing, threatening or abusive messages
Distributing sexual content without consent or content involving minors
Sending spam or promotional messages
Impersonating another user or misrepresenting your identity
Any illegal activity of any kind
Circumventing security measures or usage limits

Violation of the above results in immediate suspension or permanent ban of your account.

6. Subscriptions & Payments

The Service offers:

Free access: Chat with Sofia AI (up to the message limit) — for all users
Premium subscription (€10/month): Messaging with real users — required for male users only

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store card details. By subscribing you authorise Stripe to charge your card on a recurring basis until you cancel.

7. Cancellation & Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not refund partial billing periods unless required by applicable law. For incorrect charges contact us within 14 days at support@gefyraapp.eu.

EU Right of Withdrawal: If you are in the European Union, you have the right to withdraw within 14 days of purchase, unless the service has already been fully performed with your consent. By activating your subscription immediately, you consent to early performance and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal may be limited.

8. Data Protection & GDPR

We process your personal data in accordance with EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) and Turkish Law No. 6698 (KVKK). For details on the data we collect, how we use it and your rights, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, design and code of the Service belongs to Gefyra and is protected by applicable copyright laws. Copying or distribution without written permission is not permitted.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation or the accuracy of AI responses. Use is at your own risk.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Gefyra is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid in the 3 months prior to the claim.

12. EU AI Act Compliance

In accordance with EU Regulation 2024/1689:

Users are clearly informed that they are interacting with an AI system (Sofia)
The Service does not use AI for prohibited or high-risk purposes
We maintain full transparency about the nature of the AI at all times

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Greece and the European Union. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Greek courts. EU consumers may also use the online dispute resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. You will be notified by email or via an announcement in the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
